About Wearnes

Founded in 1906, WBL Corporation Limited (Wearnes, the Group or 维信集团) has undergone several transformations to become a leading Asian multinational conglomerate with a market capitalisation exceeding S$1 billion today. The Group’s key activities include technology, automotive, property and engineering & distribution.

The Group is one of the world’s leading producers of flexible printed circuits, found in widely used consumer products such as mobile phones. Its majority-owned, NASDAQ-listed unit, Multi-Fineline Electronix, Inc (MFLEX), is one of the few global firms able to provide seamless, integrated, end-to-end solutions for quick-turn prototypes through high-volume production. The Group’s technology business also includes precision engineering and electronic manufacturing services.

In automotive, Wearnes represents eight world-renowned brands with operations throughout the region: Volvo, Jaguar, Renault, Bentley, Land Rover, Mazda, Volkswagen, and Bugatti. In Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, it is Volvo's largest distributor.

Wearnes is also growing its property business, particularly in China, where it has been investing in the residential segment since the 1990s. Operating under the name of Huaxin International, the Group today has a substantial land bank in China, focussed mainly in the five cities of Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou, Shanghai and Shenyang. It continues to build its portfolio of high-end property developments and expand its land bank in China. Apart from redeveloping a strategically located 319,364 sq m site in Chengdu for a high-end residential development, it plans to redevelop the former site of the Summer Palace Theme Park in Shenyang into a prime mixed-use development to include a shopping mall, office block, service apartments and residential apartments.

The Engineering & Distribution division consists of systems integrator O’Connor’s, as well as Wearnes’ mining, building materials, gas and equipment distribution businesses.

Wearnes continues to build on the Group's operational and technical expertise to deliver sustainable results and returns to shareholders. It is this commitment and philosophy that has established Wearnes among the top 100 companies by market capitalisation on the SGX-ST. In April 2009, Wearnes received the Gold ‘Best Managed Board’ Award (mid cap) at the annual Singapore Corporate Awards.
