
Dr Ser was appointed an Independent and Non-executive Director on 1 December 2008 and was re-elected in 2009. He is a member of the Risk Committee.
Dr Ser is currently an associate professor at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He is the Director of a mega centre (VALENS) on biomedical research and a Senator of NTU. He served as the Director of the Centre for Signal Processing from 1997 to 2011 and the Director of the Infocomm Cluster from 2007 to 2009. Prior to joining NTU, he was the Technological Advisor to the CEO of the DSO National Laboratories.
Dr Ser is an advisor to Azione Capital Pte. Ltd. He is an Expert Panel member of the National Research Foundation IDM Program. He is an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) Distinguished Lecturer, and has served in the international advisory board of several international conferences.
Dr Ser holds a BSc (First Class Honours) and a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Loughborough University, UK. He was a recipient of the Colombo Plan Scholarship (Undergraduates), the PSC Postgraduate Scholarship, the IEE Prize, the Defence Technology (Individual) Prize, and the DSO Excellence Award.
